One of my all-time FAVORITE summer activities is going to the lake. Yes, us Midwesterners have to settle for lakes rather than ocean beach front resorts, but boy do we make the most of it! Grilling, morning boat rides, fireworks for every occassion, laying out without a care in the world, what more could a girl ask for?!
This is a picture of my little boy and I laying out on the dock over Memorial Day weekend.
I don't know if you have visited the exotic Midwest in the middle of summer, but let me spell it out for you: H-U-M-I-D-I-T-Y. Not even joking. It's awful. And not to mention the serious amount of bad hair days it causes. Luckily, I have found something to counteract Mother Nature's follicular attacks! If you haven't heard of it before, I highly highly highly highly recommend this little magical wand...it really is magical!
Sultra Bombshell Curling Wand (I got mine from Sephora)
Another lovely aspect of summer is the ability I get to wear flip-flops every single day! I don't know about you, but I am a complete flip flop, t-shirts, and shorts kind of girl...you know, throwing on an accessory occassionally to liven up the outfit. Due to traveling back and forth almost every weekend to see the boy and my family, I've finally narrowed down my 'flip flop wardrobe' to only 3 pairs (ok, maybe 4 or even 5 on some fancy weekends).
Rainbows, of course. I wish I could tell you what number pair this is for me, but let's just say you might be slightly disturbed.
Steve Maddens. Yes, I DO believe that these sandals account for a 'dressy shoe' during the summer...don't judge!
Sam Edelman's. What couldn't you wear with these?
Now that you know how I like to spend my summers, you should know how I will really be spending them for the next 2 years of grad school... studying studying studying! So enjoy your lovely summer a little extra for moi!
And on that point, I must get better at this blogging shindig! Hope you've all had a fabulous day :)
